On October 17, 2014, 7 business people from Canada went to Lesotho representing the Bracelet of Hope business-to-business (B2B) group. It was the second year in a row that a B2B group made the trip, and it was a great success.
The first step in this collaborative effort was a visit in September 2013 to Lesotho by 8 business owners from Canada to become familiar with the business environment there and to build working relationships with business owners from Hlotse and Botha Buthe Districts. It was a great success and helped them launch a local business association group which today consists of more than 30 local business owners.
The second B2B group also provided them with workshops and basic business training, something that most of these local business owners have never had. The response to the training and visits have so far been overwhelmingly positive. The current goals of the B2B group include the setting up a revolving loan fund, continued collaboration, learning and mentoring via the internet, and the formation of a joint holding company to invest in medium sized businesses in Lesotho. We're looking forward to great results from this initiative.
We are in the process of loading the profiles of the businesses visited onto our website and encourage business people from across Canada to have a look and perhaps explore ways in which you can help by either mentoring or getting involved directly.
