Bracelet of Hope is hiring two Summer Jobs Students! Join our team!


Job Title:       Governance Support – 1 position.
Funded by the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs Funding Program


Position Type: Full time, temporary
Please note that this position is for 8 weeks’ duration intended for students returning to school in September 2017.


Duties include (but not limited to):
The Governance Support Student will be responsible for supporting, researching and amending Bracelets of Hope’s governance documents, letters patent, Memorandum of Understanding, Canada Revenue Agency documents, charters, job descriptions and many codes of ethics.


This role engages in researching and supporting the needs of charters, governance and business policies and procedures.


Position requirements:
Self-driven, organized and results-oriented individuals with


  • Ability to research online, support development of policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures
  • Working with the Board of Directors and Governance team to develop documents, charters, job descriptions, financial schedules
  • Preference for a business, accounting, finance or law major
  • Superior internet and computer skills, excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Passion about Bracelet of Hope’s mission to improve the lives of children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho
  • Eligibility to legally work in Canada
  • Returning to post-secondary education
  • A valid driver’s license and accessibility to a vehicle

 


Job Title:       Community Engagement Officer – 1 position.
Funded by the Government of Canada’s Summer Jobs Funding Program.


Position Type: Full time, temporary
Please note that this position is for 8 weeks’ duration intended for students returning to school in September 2017.


Duties include (but not limited to):
The Community Engagement Officer will take on responsibilities surrounding all-local community development initiatives including summer festivals, fundraising events, cultural events, etc. throughout their work term with Bracelet of Hope. 


This role engages in local events in order to educate and engage Canadians in the plight of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa and to inspire local citizens to become active members of both their local and international community.


The Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for logistics surrounding summer events including seeking out donations, registration, developing engagement materials and education of volunteers and the public about Bracelet of Hope’s work. 


The Community Engagement Officer will seek out opportunities for volunteers to engage with Bracelet of Hope, and work together with their supervisor to develop unique opportunities for peer-to-peer mentorship on volunteer activities.


Position requirement:
Self-driven, organized and results-oriented individuals with


  • Ability to engage the public to fundraise and promote Bracelet of Hope
  • Experience organizing, coordinating and promoting events
  • Passion about Bracelet of Hope’s mission to improve the lives of children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho
  • Excellent oral and written communication and networking skills
  • Superior computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), social media and internet
  • Adaptability, flexibility and creativity
  • Eligibility to legally work in Canada
  • Returning to post-secondary education
  • A valid driver’s license and accessibility to a vehicle
