Event Description
Our World AIDS Day Gala is dedicated to raising awareness about the global AIDS pandemic, particularly about how the AIDS pandemic affects those living in Lesotho. It is an opportunity for the people of Guelph and surrounding communities to engage in the UNAIDS visionary goal to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030.
At this year’s event, we are setting out to raise $100,000 support our mobile health units which deliver HIV testing and treatment to rural populations. Guests will be treated to a sit down dinner, live music and performances. They will also enjoy a dazzling silent auction plus an energetic and entertaining live auction.
In keeping with the theme of World AIDS Day 2019 “Communities make the difference” , we will be celebrating the role our community has played and continues to play in the AIDS response in Lesotho.

WORLD AIDS DAY 2019
“Communities make the difference” — “World AIDS Day” offers an important platform to highlight the role of communities at a time when reduced funding and a shrinking space for civil society are putting the sustainability of services and advocacy efforts in jeopardy. Greater mobilization of communities is urgently required to address the barriers that stop communities delivering services, including restrictions on registration and an absence of social contracting modalities. The strong advocacy role played by communities is needed more than ever to ensure that AIDS remains on the political agenda, that human rights are respected and that decision-makers and implementers are held accountable.
